A Design Sprint is a 5-day workshop format, invented a few years ago by Google Ventures in order to speed up the ideation of new concepts, products, and services. Since then, Design Sprints have toured the corporate world, becoming massively popular not only as an ideation tool, but also as a training device, to help team grasp the essence of Design Thinking and Lean Startup in just a few days. Based on our experience running and attending various Design Sprints, Yin Lei Zhang and I have developed a Future-oriented version of the popular format. The goal: to support the ideation of not just innovative concepts for the short term, but rather new paradigms for a 10-year timeframe.
